Prince of Songkla University (PSU)
Prince of Songkla University (PSU), established in 1967 as the first university in southern Thailand, was founded under the Southern Development Plan Policy with the vision of becoming the leading higher education institution in the region. Since its establishment, PSU has played a central role in producing quality graduates, advancing research and innovation, providing academic services, and preserving arts and cultural heritage.
PSU operates five campuses and offers a comprehensive range of academic programs across disciplines, including agriculture, agro-industry, engineering, health sciences, natural resources, pharmaceutical sciences, and social sciences. The university comprises 39 faculties, four university hospitals, and more than 40 research centers of excellence. With over 33,000 students and more than 2,500 academic staff, PSU is consistently ranked among the top universities in Thailand and is recognized as the leading university in the southern region.
The university’s educational philosophy is grounded in progressivism and student-centered learning, emphasizing holistic development, critical thinking, adaptability, and lifelong learning. PSU promotes sustainable learning approaches that integrate classroom education with real-world application, guided by its principle that “Development is Change.”
Aligned with its global outlook, PSU actively engages in international cooperation and mobility programmes, particularly under the Erasmus+ framework. Through formal agreements with European and international institutions, PSU supports undergraduate and graduate exchanges, credit transfer mechanisms, joint academic initiatives, and collaborative research activities, strengthening intercultural competence and global academic collaboration.
Faculty of Natural Resources (FNR)
The Faculty of Natural Resources (FNR), one of the founding faculties of Prince of Songkla University, plays a key role in advancing agriculture and natural resource management in Southern Thailand and beyond. The faculty is nationally and internationally recognized for its academic excellence, applied research, and strong engagement in tropical and sustainable production systems.
FNR provides integrated education in agriculture, livestock, and aquatic systems, combining academic knowledge with practical skills, technology, and innovation. Its programs - offered at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels—emphasize research-driven innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and climate-resilient production aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economy model.
The faculty integrates classroom learning with field-based and work-integrated training, supported by modern laboratories, experimental farms, and strong collaboration with public and private sector partners.
With a solid track record in research and outreach, FNR works closely with farmers, local authorities, and industry to transfer knowledge and technology that strengthen agricultural communities. Through national and international partnerships, FNR serves as a regional hub for academic collaboration, innovation, and sustainable agricultural development.
